Skills - Deep Buttoning

The process involves pushing buttons into deep filled upholstery and then fastening them from the rear under tension. These buttons are arranged in a pattern, often in a diamond form.

Deep-buttoning needs to be carried out by highly skilled upholsterers as there are lots of elements that need to be absolutely accurate. The button depth, the tension and the positioning to name a few. Once this is mastered, then the ability to incorporate the pattern into pieces of furniture that have their own form is the next level.

It takes a lot of time to make this type of upholstery, but our crafts people certainly have the ability.

If you scan through our project images you wiill see many examples of this technique.
